PITCH HERE
Hey list people! Taking a liberty here to trojan horse my substack to let you know about a project that’s been stewing in the pot for about year…and is coming to the printed-ass page!
That’s right, I’m excited to announce that I’ll be editing Nearest and Dearest: An Anthology of Dyke Domesticity, forthcoming from Combos Press in Fall 2025!
We want to know:
How does domesticity take shape in your life?
What are historical examples of dyke domesticity that can help connect us to our present experiences as lesbians?
What are perspectives about homemaking and community care that are only made possible when we consider the experiences of dyke domesticity?
Think domesticity is only about playing house? THINK AGAIN! While we would love to hear about what homing means to you, topics of the domestic variety also relate to:
farming/gardening
marriage/separation/partnership/partner care
birth/birth work/child rearing/child having
future planning/dreaming
provisioning/managing finances…buying groceries? making grocery lists ;)
kinship/ancestry
^this is not a comprehensive list, just something to get you started. “Home” and “family” are boundless terms of care, love, hurt, sanctuary, self, place…we can’t wait to hear where you take it!
